The Basic Values of the Catholic Church

Prayers of Blessing and Adoration

In prayers of adoration or worship, we exalt the greatness of God, and we acknowledge our dependence on Him in all things. The Mass and the other liturgies of the Church are full of prayers of adoration or worship, such as the Gloria (the Glory to God). Among private prayers, the Act of Faith is a prayer of adoration. In extolling the greatness of God, we also acknowledge our own humility.

In the silence of the heart God speaks. If you face God in prayer and silence,

God will speak to you. Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

Short Prayer of Adoration

Jesus, I adore You

I fall to my knees,

in awe of Your greatness

I'm lingering in Your presence

Bathing in Your light

Resting in Your love.

Amen

Adoration Prayer by King David

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty.

Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom.

We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honour come from you alone, for you rule over everything.

Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12, (NLT)

Adoration Prayer by Saint Faustina

(In April 2000, Sister Mary Faustina became the first saint of the 21st Century. She is known in the Catholic faith as the Apostle of Divine Mercy)

I adore You, Lord and Creator, hidden in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I adore You for all the works of Your hands, that reveal to me so much wisdom, goodness and mercy, O Lord.

You have spread so much beauty over the earth and it tells me about Your beauty, even though these beautiful things are but a faint reflection of You, incomprehensible Beauty. And although You have hidden Yourself and concealed Your beauty, my eye, enlightened by faith, reaches You and my soul recognizes its Creator, its Highest Good, and my heart is completely immersed in prayer of adoration.

My Lord and Creator, Your goodness encourages me to converse with You. Your mercy abolishes the chasm which separates the Creator from the creature. To converse with You, O Lord, is the delight of my heart. In You I find everything that my heart could desire. Here, Your light illumines my mind, enabling it to know You more and more deeply. Here streams of graces flow down upon my heart. Here my soul draws eternal life. O my Lord and Creator, You alone, beyond all these gifts, give Your own self to me and unite Yourself intimately with Your miserable creature.

O Christ, let my greatest delight be to see You loved and Your praise and glory proclaimed, especially the honor of Your mercy. O Christ, let me glorify Your goodness and mercy to the last moment of my life, with every drop of my blood and every beat of my heart. Would that I be transformed into a hymn of adoration of You. When I find myself on my deathbed, may the last beat of my heart be a loving hymn glorifying Your unfathomable mercy.

Amen.

Glory Be To The Father (Gloria Patri)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning,

is now,

and ever shall be,

world without end. Amen.

Early Morning Prayer

You are the glorious morning,

You are refreshment and peace.

You are the sounds as the dawn breaks,

You are the rose that smells sweet.

You are the Lord, my creator,

You are the wonder of life.

You are the great words of wisdom,

I read them and fill up inside.

You are the wonderful sunrise,

You are restorer of hope.

You are the air that we breathe now,

You are the warm winter coat.

You are the Lord, my creator,

You are a love without end.

You are all grace and forgiveness,

I stand loved and free as your friend.

Prayer of Eucharistic Adoration

Holy God, Your word says that unless I eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, I will have no life in myself!

He who eats Your flesh and drinks Your blood has eternal life, and You will raise him up on the last day, for Your flesh is true food, and Your blood is true drink!

I thank You for giving us life! We gather to have life and have it more abundantly in You as we partake in the Eucharist,

Amen.

John 6:53-57
